A little reason to celebrate
Family ยท The fourth Sunday in September
A day for daughters of every age, and for parents and families to spend time with them, share old stories and tell them what they mean.

National Daughters Day falls on Sunday, September 26, 2027. That is 334 days away.
Daughters get a day of their own here, whatever their age. A daughter might be seven and missing a front tooth, or fifty and running the family group chat. The day belongs to all of them, and to the parents, grandparents and guardians who raised them.
Most families mark it quietly. A phone call that runs longer than usual. Breakfast out, or pancakes at home. A parent digging through a closet for the box of school photos, the ones with the bangs nobody asked about, and passing them around the table while everyone argues over which year was the worst haircut.
For grown daughters who live far away, the day often arrives as a text or a card. For younger ones it can be an afternoon with no errands attached, just a walk, a library trip or a game she chose. Kids tend to notice when the plan was theirs to make.
The day also leaves room for the daughters themselves. Plenty of women use it to call their own parents, or to think about the aunts, grandmothers and older cousins who showed them how things were done. Family stories travel along those lines, from the recipe written on an index card to the tale of the time someone locked the keys in the car twice in one day.
One easy way in is to let her pick. The restaurant, the movie, the route home. She may choose the same diner she chose last year, and that is a fine answer.
