Social Media Day looks at the apps and sites where people post, share and keep up with friends, family and strangers with good taste in recipes.

Social Media Day falls on Wednesday, June 30, 2027. That is 246 days away.
Social media is the broad name for websites and apps where people share posts, photos, videos and comments with each other. Some are built around friends and family, some around short videos, some around news and conversation, and some around one narrow hobby done very well.
The odd thing about it is how personal it feels for something so public. A cousin's new puppy sits in the same feed as a stranger's bread recipe and a local bakery's hours. People use it to keep in touch across distances, to find a lost recipe, to ask a neighborhood whether that noise was thunder.
Most people mark the day by doing what they already do, only with a little more attention. They post an old photo that started it all for them, thank an account that taught them something, or send a message to a friend they mostly know through comments. Others take the chance to tidy up, unfollowing accounts that no longer fit and checking who can see their posts.
Privacy settings move around as apps update, so the menu you set up once may look different now. A few minutes spent there tends to pay off.
And somewhere, right now, someone is scrolling past a recipe they will save and never cook.
