A little reason to celebrate
Fun ยท November 13
A day for small, deliberate acts of kindness, marked in the United States and in many other countries, from held doors to thank-you notes.

World Kindness Day falls on Friday, November 13, 2026. That is 17 days away.
Kindness is mostly made of ordinary moves. Someone holds a door, lets a car merge, remembers a name, or says thank you and means it. World Kindness Day asks people to do those things on purpose, and maybe one or two more than usual.
It is an international day, and it is marked in the United States too. Schools often take it up with projects like kindness chains or notes left in library books. Offices sometimes run a quiet version, with coffee bought for a coworker or a thank-you email sent to someone who never gets one.
The interesting part is how little it takes. A kind act does not need a budget or a plan. Returning a stray shopping cart counts. So does writing a short review for a local business you like, or texting a friend you have been meaning to check on. Many people find that the small, specific gestures land better than the big ones, because they show someone was paying attention.
Some people keep a running list through the day of kindnesses they noticed from others. It tends to be longer than expected, and it is mostly made of strangers doing things they would never think to mention, like the bus driver who waited an extra few seconds.
