A little reason to celebrate
Commemorative ยท July 1
A day to recognize the postal workers who sort, carry and deliver mail to homes and businesses across the country, in every kind of weather.

National Postal Workers Day falls on Thursday, July 1, 2027. That is 247 days away.
Postal workers are the people who move the mail. They sort letters and packages, staff the counters at post offices, drive the trucks and walk the routes that bring envelopes to nearly every address in the country.
Most of the work happens out of sight. Before a letter lands in a mailbox, it has usually been collected, sorted by machine and by hand, and loaded for the right route. Carriers then deliver it on foot or by vehicle, often covering the same streets day after day until they know which porch has the friendly dog and which mailbox sticks.
That familiarity is part of the job's character. A regular carrier notices when mail piles up, learns the quirks of a neighborhood, and becomes one of the steadiest faces many people see. Counter clerks answer questions about forms, postage and packages that most of us only think about when something needs to go somewhere.
Marking the day is mostly a matter of noticing. People leave a note of thanks in the mailbox, say hello at the door, or mention a carrier by name to the local post office. Some families have children draw a picture for whoever brings the mail.
It also helps to make the route a little easier. A clear path to the mailbox, a secured pet and a legible house number are things carriers appreciate every day of the year, and they cost nothing.
