A little reason to celebrate
Commemorative ยท April 25
A day for the plumbers who keep water flowing in and out of American homes, also known as National Hug a Plumber Day.

National Plumbers Day falls on Sunday, April 25, 2027. That is 180 days away.
Plumbers install and repair the pipes, drains, fixtures and water heaters that most of us only think about when something goes wrong. This day, also called National Hug a Plumber Day, gives them a bit of the attention they rarely get when the sink is working.
The job is more varied than it looks from the kitchen floor. A plumber might spend the morning fitting a new shower valve and the afternoon tracing a slow leak behind a wall. Much of the work is about water pressure, slope and seals, so that clean water arrives where it should and used water leaves without lingering. It also means crawl spaces, cold basements and a fair amount of kneeling.
People usually mark the day by saying thank you. That can be a note to the person who fixed the water heater last winter, a kind online review for a local shop, or simply asking a plumber friend how business is going. The hug in the alternate name is optional, and most plumbers would probably settle for a clear path to the cabinet under the sink.
It helps to know where the main water shutoff valve is in your home. If a pipe ever bursts, closing that valve stops the flow while you wait for help, and the plumber who arrives will be glad you found it.
